Audi AG
UI designer in an international agile development team, supported by a team of designers and researchers. My focus was on creating user flows, interfaces and interactions, as well as ensuring the correct implementation of the design vision in the final product.
Audi introduced its new strategy of creating a driver-centered ecosystem. A crucial part of that was creating new digital services, adding value to touchpoints before, during, and after the ride, exclusively for Audi drivers.
Audi Business Innovation GmbH was responsible for identifying and shaping business-related digital services. Following Audi's "one-app-to-the-customer"-approach, we created the app – a playground app to ship and host new services to early-adopter Audi drivers.
Audi Active Coach (AAC) was one of these services within . The digital traveling companion's focus was on creating a relaxed, stress-free driving experience.
Roadworks, traffic and road conditions, and even other road users are common causes of stress when driving. In the simplest case, this leads to inner tension and slight irritability.
In worse cases, it can even lead to aggression or anxiety. Dangerous driving behavior or reduced attention can lead to serious accidents.
Audi Active Coach offers an innovative approach to mental health. While driving, users can increase their well-being. Their Apple Watch measures heart rate to identify deviations from their normal heart rate range.
Atmospheric soundscapes and relaxing or activating breathing exercises help users unwind and reach their destination in a good mood.
We partnered with start-ups, experts, and doctors in the mental health and well-being area to ensure maximum impact for users.
After more than a year of development, we shipped a version to customers that actually served a purpose in their daily commutes.
After analyzing the results of usability tests of our initial MVP, we realized that users did not find the service helpful enough. We rethought everything, from the problem statement to the interface design.
We implemented gamification elements, added personalization features, and designed an Apple CarPlay interface fully optimized for in-car use. Within the design team, we therefore created a design system for Audi Stage.
The result was a service that users liked and used on a regular basis. It laid the foundation for Audi Stage as the first service introduced to the app.
